The United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) has just approved the Cross Industry Invoice (CII) Version 2

UN/CEFACT has approved and released the next version of the cross industry invoice standard, details and links are here …

This is the standard that is likely to be proposed by the EU Expert Group on e-Invoicing. We are still awaiting the full timing details for the implementation guides and associated materials, however it will be interesting to see industry feedback to this new standard and the proposed timing for adoption.

At OB10 we employ any to any mapping technology that enables suppliers to send us invoice data in any structured format – we then map the supplier data to the buyers format, reducing the implementation burdens for both parties. We are not in any way reliant on any standards but do feel that a move to a global standard can only help  widespread deployment of e-Invoicing. My guess is that we wont see deployment of the standard until at least 2011.
